This was important because the three separate areas of the law dealt with discrimination, discrimination based on race, and employment practices. Another area that was affected by the Civil Rights Act was federal funding. The Fair Housing Act passed in 1968 outlawed racial discrimination in housing practices and eliminated discrimination based on race in federally assisted housing. These laws effectivel y came into effect in March of 1968.Sexual Harassment is a controversial subject that has been the source of numerous lawsuits for many years. It has caused controversy not only within the United States but also abroad as well. There have been legal cases about sexual harassment both at work and at school, and the details vary from place to place and from time to time.Some countries, including India, China, and Vietnam, have laws which protect women from being harassed in the workplace. The United States lacks a formal law which covers the issue. In many countries there is a special forum that handles cases involving harassment. The National Women's Law Center in Washington, D.C. is a good example of this type of forum.Whether sexual harassment is illegal in the United States or not is not yet decided. Federal and state laws currently exist but have not been enforced at least in large part due to the lack of complaints against it. A number of lawsuits and public complaints have been filed against businesses and individuals, though these cases are being fought in the courts right now.The Federal Fair Employment Practices Act prohibits employment discrimination. These include sex, race, religion, national origin, age, disability, and other factors. It also forbids retaliation against employees who complain about sexual harassment.A person who is fired for a sexual harassment claim will have to prove that they were terminated in retaliation for complaining about the harassment. In addition, the retaliation must be for what occurred prior to the complaint. Failure to provide evidence of the first complaint can cause the employer to lose their job in retaliation.There are numerous lawsuits that have been filed against employers who may be guilty of sexual harassment. They are very serious allegations and the outcome can be serious as well. Whichever way it goes, the victims can seek legal help from an attorney who specializes in sexual harassment cases.
